A man has been charged over his involvement in an alleged street fight with rugby league journalist Paul Kent outside a popular inner west restaurant on Saturday night.

Kent, who is a prominent Daily Telegraph journalist and Fox Sports presenter, was stood down from his roles after footage emerged of him in an altercation outside Totti’s Rozelle.

A statement from a spokesperson speaking on behalf of both organisations said Kent “had been stood down pending an immediate investigation”.

Kent was cleared of domestic violence charges against his ex-partner in December last year.

In a statement, NSW Police said it is investigating after a verbal argument between two men allegedly turned into a physical altercation.

About 6.45pm on Sunday a 35-year-old man walked into Balmain police station where he was arrested and taken to Newtown police station.

He was charged with affray and granted conditional bail, to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on June 7.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

In the video posted to X, Kent can be seen trading insults with the 35-year-old man before the pair engage in a scuffle. The man appears to launch Kent into a nearby tree with video showing the journalist taking a tumble into the street, head-first.

Kent had returned to his NRL 360 hosting gig in March after being off-air for nine months while he faced domestic violence charges. Kent was accused of attacking his 33-year-old ex-partner at his Lilyfield home in May last year.

He was found not guilty of common assault, choking a person without consent and assault occasioning bodily harm, after magistrate Daniel Reiss said he could not rely on the complainant’s version of events.
