Thank you for joining us on state budget day.
A warning. Get your umbrellas out –the Bureau of Meteorology says Perth will be battered by thunderstorms on Friday as it issues a severe weather warning for the south west.
Senior Meteorologist Angus Hines said the rain was a due to a cold front heading our way “bringing an end to this unseasonably warm week we’ve been having”.
He said temperatures in Perth on Thursday were nearly 5 degrees above the average for this time of year at 27 degrees.
He said most places across WA were between two and five degrees above the norm for this time of the year, bringing with it high fire danger ratings.
But that will all change tomorrow with a cold front approaching from the south west.
“It looks like it will be a bit of a vigorous front,” Hines said. “It will bring with it some rain and some storms.”
Hines said the majority of the weather will be seen between Geraldton and Albany.
He said the storm could bring heavy rain, which could cause some flash flooding and damaging winds which could bring down trees and cause power outages.
“The potential is even there for some large hail, which can damage property and can damage crops as well,” Hines said.
Good night and we look forward to your company again tomorrow.
